Attending the Nextcloud Community Conference in Berlin was an incredible experience for our team at Inkscreen. Stepping into a room filled with developers, open-source advocates, and privacy-focused innovators reinforced why open collaboration is vital for the future of digital security.
Here is a quick recap of our time in Berlin, how our work with partners like the city of Stadt Koblenz is shaping our product, and what lies ahead for our partnership with Nextcloud.
Connecting with a Passionate Community
From the moment the conference kicked off, the energy was undeniable. It was truly inspiring to meet so many passionate technologists at Nextcloud and interact with their enthusiastic community of contributors.
Whether discussing open-source privacy standards over coffee or diving deep into architecture during sessions, the shared commitment to digital sovereignty, data control, and user privacy was evident at every turn.
Presenting CAPTOR & Stadt Koblenz at the Lightning Talks
We were honored to participate in the conference schedule with a Lightning Talk focusing on how CAPTOR™, our managed secure camera app, seamlessly integrates with Nextcloud to protect sensitive media workflows.
During the talk, we highlighted our work with Stadt Koblenz (City of Koblenz, Germany). Municipality field workers and code enforcement staff require a reliable, secure way to document site conditions, municipal projects, and compliance inspections without exposing sensitive photos to consumer media galleries or unsecured cloud storage. By leveraging CAPTOR integrated directly with their Nextcloud environment, Stadt Koblenz ensures that every photograph, video, and document scan is encrypted instantly at capture and backed up directly to their sovereign Nextcloud server with full metadata intact.

Exciting Road Ahead: The Inkscreen & Nextcloud Partnership
Returning from Berlin, we are more energized than ever about the future of the partnership between Inkscreen and Nextcloud.
Combining CAPTOR's enterprise mobile capture controls—like automatic encryption, geotagging, and policy enforcement—with Nextcloud's powerful self-hosted collaboration platform gives organizations complete control over their mobile data pipeline. We are eager to continue working alongside the Nextcloud team to deliver even greater value to the community, helping public sector institutions and enterprise teams keep their mobile workflows both compliant and efficient.
What’s Next: Deepening Media Authenticity with C2PA
In addition to expanding our core mobile capture capabilities, we are excited to share a project currently in development: a new Nextcloud app designed to reveal and verify extensive media metadata, including C2PA Content Credentials.
In an era where synthetic media and AI alterations are increasingly common, verifying the origin and integrity of captured media is critical—especially for legal, municipal, law enforcement, and regulatory workflows. Our upcoming Nextcloud app will make it simple for users to inspect detailed metadata directly within Nextcloud, providing transparent verification of when, where, and how media was captured through trusted C2PA standards.
