CAPTOR Now Supports Screenshot Blocking Across All App Versions

We’re excited to introduce a powerful new security feature in CAPTOR for Ivanti and CAPTOR for Enterprise —the ability to block screenshots and screen recordings.

Taking screenshots and screen recordings with smart phones has always represented a clear and present danger to data leakage prevention efforts. The screenshots and recordings are saved to the native photos app, outside of the secure container and mixed in with personal photos (if the device is BYOD or COPE).

Android has long had app configuration options to help organizations prevent screenshots. iOS has been a vastly different story. Apple has only enabled screenshot restrictions when the device is supervised, which left MAM deployments unprotected.

In the last year, however, things are starting to change. BlackBerry Dynamics and Microsoft Intune now include options to block screenshots and screen recordings for iOS MAM deployments.

With the release of CAPTOR (iOS) v5.2.1 we can now make the claim that all versions of CAPTOR, iOS and Android, support this critical functionality.

Below is a video demo of the new restriction. You will notice that when it is enabled, the screen recording is blacked out, since we are using the exact iOS functionality that the feature blocks.

As a secure camera and document capture solution, CAPTOR empowers organizations to capture, manage, and protect sensitive photos and content within a controlled environment. However, until now, screenshots and screen recordings posed a security risk—they were saved directly to the native photos app, bypassing corporate security policies.

With this new feature for appconfig and Ivanti customers, CAPTOR now prevents screenshots and screen recordings, ensuring that captured content remains secure and within company control. This eliminates a major data leakage risk and further strengthens compliance for industries handling sensitive information, such as government, healthcare, and financial services.

Security and compliance are at the core of CAPTOR, and this enhancement is another step toward providing organizations with the most secure mobile capture solution available.

CAPTOR (iOS) 5.2.0 - Content Organization Options + Collage

CAPTOR (iOS) version 5.2.0 has been released for Intune, BlackBerry Dynamics, Ivanti AppConnect, and general appconfig (Enterprise). This is another big feature release packed with exciting options that should be beneficial to both end users and administrators. Here is what’s new:

Content Organization Options. Since the app’s inception 10 years ago, CAPTOR has had a default folder named “Captured” in which all new content is saved. This release allows you to customize the folder organization system into folders named by the day or month in which content is captured, or with a custom folder name. Content captured before making this change will remain in the Captured folder. The new options include:

• Daily. Selecting Daily creates a new folder for every new day in which content is captured (ex. 2025-02-20).

• Monthly. Selecting Monthly creates a new folder for every new month in which content is captured (ex. 2025-02).

• Custom. Selecting Custom allows you to enter your own default folder name (up to 64 characters).

This new option can be controlled by app configuration or you can allow the user to make their own selection in the app settings. The app config key is “foldernomenclature” and the values to enter would be “daily”, “monthly”, or you can enter a custom string. The custom string supports wildcard substitution variables (ex. $USERID$ for Ivanti admins would translate to “jbohls” etc. for each end user). If you use the CAPTOR backup service, the foldering system is replicated on the backup server also.

Photo Collage Layouts. CAPTOR now supports collage layouts for photos. Start by selecting the photos you want to add to the collage, then tap the Share button. If you had selected more than one photo and the file format PDF, the new Layout option will be displayed,. Switch it from “1 per Page” to “2 per Page” or “4 per Page”. Alternatively, you can add the photos into a folder and then swipe left on the folder name and tap Share. This auto-selects all of the content within that folder. When the Share options come up, be sure to select PDF, and then the same Layout options will appear. Here is a short video demo:

Please note, the CAPTOR backup service will not copy photos to the server in a collage format.

Document Collage Layouts. Document collages work a little differently. We implemented the document collage feature in the document preview screen. This way, any layout changes will be respected both when sharing a PDF, and when the PDF is backed up to OneDrive or a fileshare (if backup is enabled). Some of our customers are in law enforcement, and one of the CAPTOR use cases is to scan the front and back of an identication card. Now the two scans can appear on the the same page of a PDF. Microsoft Authentication Token Password Reset. This release introduces better handling of expired Microsoft auth tokens, and situations in which a user has reset their Microsoft password.

Please note, this release supports iOS 17 and iOS 18+. The prior CAPTOR release was the final version supporting iOS 16.
